This policy applies specifically to our training participants, volunteers, and donors.

2. Our Privacy Commitment

We embed privacy-by-design into our training programmes. We respect individual privacy and ensure that our data practices are fair, lawful, and transparent.

3. Information We Collect

To deliver our programmes and meet reporting requirements for our funders, we collect:

  • Identification: Name and contact details.
  • Demographics: Language and accessibility needs, ethnicity, and age group. This helps us ensure cultural relevance and reach.
  • Learning Data: Programme participation, skills assessment (pre/post training), and feedback.
  • Support Information: Volunteer and donor details.
  • Technical Data: Website usage and IP addresses for digital security.

4. The "Training Only" Boundary

ConnectNZ Trust provides education, not intermediary services.

  • No Access to Credentials: We will never ask for, or store, your passwords, PINs, or private keys.
  • Live Accounts: While we teach you how to navigate government or health portals, our facilitators do not perform transactions on your behalf.
  • AI Training: When teaching AI skills, we encourage participants to use anonymized data. We do not purposefully collect the specific prompts or inputs you enter into third-party AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini).

5. How We Collect Information

Information is collected directly through enrolment forms, website surveys, and email. We may receive information indirectly via trusted partners who refer participants to our programmes.

6. Purpose of Collection

We collect your information to:

  • Deliver digital literacy and AI inclusion programmes.
  • Communicate with learners, volunteers, and partners.
  • Reporting (Non-Identifiable): Provide aggregated impact reports to our funders and government agencies to prove the effectiveness of our programmes.
  • Improve the quality of our curriculum.

7. Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only with:

  • Service Delivery Partners: To facilitate local workshops.
  • Funders: Reporting is provided in aggregated or de-identified form.
  • Legal Necessity: Government agencies only where a legal obligation exists.

8. Storage and Security

We use secure cloud infrastructure with encryption and access controls. All staff and volunteers are vetted and trained on data privacy awareness.

9. Retention and Disposal

We retain information only as long as required for audit and reporting purposes. Once no longer required, data is securely destroyed.

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Request correction of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.

No. Our programmes are designed for people with little to no digital experience. We teach step-by-step using simple language and patient guidance.
